Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and MayR Labs (“we”, “us”), the makers of the 9 to Fiver game and the website at games.mlabs.ng/9tofiver. By downloading the game or using the website, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use them.
9 to Fiver is for people aged 16 and over. If you are under 16, please don’t play it.
Using the game
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to download and play the game on devices you own or control, for your own enjoyment. The game is free to play and shows ads (see our Privacy Policy).
You agree not to:
- copy, modify, resell or redistribute the game, or publish modified versions of it;
- reverse engineer, decompile, decode or extract anything from the game, including its text, data and artwork, or try to get around the checks that protect it;
- use the game’s content, in whole or in part, to build another product, dataset or service, including to train machine learning models;
- use the game or website in a way that could harm us, other people, or our services.
The app store you download from (Google Play or the App Store) also has its own terms that apply to your download.
It is a game, and it is fiction
9 to Fiver simulates a life. Everything in it is made up: the people, companies, bosses, places, prices and events. Any resemblance to real people or organisations is coincidental. Money, salaries, loans and prizes in the game are pretend, have no real-world value, and cannot be exchanged for anything real. The game is not gambling.
The game is entertainment, not advice. Nothing in it is financial, legal, medical, employment or mental health advice, even where it mentions laws, labour rules, taxes, illnesses or support services. Rules and costs in each country are simplified. If you face a real problem, speak to a qualified person or the services where you live.
Mature themes
9 to Fiver includes harassment and misconduct, debt, illness, loss, death and mild, non-graphic violence, handled plainly and never graphically. You can soften or skip the most sensitive scenes in Settings, at any time. If something in the game affects you, please take a break and talk to someone you trust. If you are in danger or in crisis, contact your local emergency number.
Your save
Your life is saved on your phone only. We can’t restore it if you delete the game, lose your phone or clear its data, unless your phone’s own backup does. You can export a copy of your save from Settings. A game update may change how things work, and we try not to break saves, but we can’t promise that every save will survive every change.
Ads
The game shows ads from third parties. We don’t control what they advertise, and we’re not responsible for their content or for what you do after leaving the game through an ad. Rewarded ads give a small in-game reward when you watch them to the end.
Updates and availability
We may update the game over the air to add content, fix problems or change features, and we may stop offering a feature or the game. We try to keep everything working, but we can’t promise the game or website will always be available or free of errors.
Ownership
The game, including its code, engine, text, events, characters, names, country and job data, artwork, logos, sound effects and design, is owned by MayR Labs and protected by copyright and other laws. “9 to Fiver”, its logo and “MLabs Games” are our trademarks. The lo-fi background music is original work by Yung MayR. Nothing in these terms gives you ownership of any of it, only the right to play described above.
Suggestions and feedback
We love hearing from you. If you send us an idea or feedback, you agree that we may use it to improve or add to our games, for free and without owing you anything. Please don’t send us anything that belongs to someone else or that you want to keep confidential. How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
No warranty
The game and website are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms, including about fitness for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by events beyond our reasonable control. Our total liability to you for anything related to the game or website is limited to ₦10,000. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, including your rights as a consumer where you live.
Ending these terms
You can stop using the game at any time by deleting it. We may stop your access to our online services, such as the waitlist, if you break these terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If there’s a dispute, we’d like to sort it out together first, so please contact us. Otherwise, the courts of Nigeria will have jurisdiction, without taking away any rights you have under the consumer laws of the place where you live.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we’ll update the date at the top and, where it makes sense, tell you in the game. Continuing to play after a change means you accept it.
